Dec 13 2022, 10am. I am currently at Pencil Factory Recording in Greenpoint. Had an hour session Serenco Restaurant. I am wearing Camouflage Miller Electric Company hat, a black BIYDIY hoodie, Dr Martin, Adidas track pants. In the background I hear the buzz of the street below. I often wonder what is the most effective strategy for me to get my goal. My goal is to establish myself as an artist in this city, among my peers, and within the industry. I have been around the industry for five years, on the inside but outside, very close...yet not fully breaking through with certain major players(I mean among the top creatives, not business folks). So I'm steadily working away at tangible skillsets(musicianship, performance, songwriting) and soft skills(networking, creative community, raising capital), often I wonder what is the most effective way to get to the goal? I know the goal has many little parts and often I am breaking down and building up these parts, but I wonder is there a faster a way. In my mind I and from observation it seems one song wins your the momentum you need for the next step of career leverage, so I write songs often, I haven't recorded or performed them, but I have been preparing these ideas with hired musician and talent. This is on my mind this morning while I'm at the studio with Shay. Shay is preparing for her performance tomorrow, great talent, great voice, but she has pieces she's trying to fill in too.
